with the big trombones and the rat-a-tat drums, big brass bass,
big brass bass, and the piccolo, the piccolo with uniforms,
too with a shiny gold braid on the coat and a big red stripe…"
“The Music Man” by Meredith Willson, one of the most beloved
musicals in American history, serves as the opening salvo in
Lamplighter’s Theatre Company's upcoming Season of Award
Winners. The season also includes “It’s A Wonderful Life – Live
Radio Play,” “Pride & Prejudice,” “12 Angry Men,” and “God’s
Favorite.”
“The Music Man” took Broadway by storm when it arrived at the
Majestic Theater in 1957, earning five Tony Awards including
Best Musical. The original cast album not only earned a Grammy
Award, but was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The
album was so well loved that it soared to the top of the Billboard
Albums chart and remained on that chart for nearly five years.
Lamplighter’s Theatre Company is proud to be able to use the
multi-million dollar, state of the art facility of Smyrna Assembly.
“The Music Man” is the first production in our “Season of Award
Winners.” The show runs September 25-28 and October 2-5.
